China Data Insights (CDI) is the newly improved English version of select content from China Statistical Yearbooks (CSYD). Collecting authoritative statistical yearbooks of all Chinese provinces, and integrating multiple functions of statistical data search, data mining analysis, and personal data management, CDI provides English users with the most comprehensive statistical data concerning social development in contemporary China.

CDI is the largest and most continuously updated statistical yearbooks database in China with over 1,095 titles, 9,200 volumes, 1.4 million tables, and 13 million indicators. The database covers 18 major topics, such as national accounting, fixed assets investment, population and human resources, living conditions and price indices, enterprises and institutions, natural resources, political and public administration, transportation and telecommunication, and more.

China Data Insights is one of 40 databases offered through East View’s China Research Gateway. Launched in 2022, China Research Gateway (CRG) transforms library access to Chinese resources by combining 40 databases into one package, supported by an accessible and user-friendly English-language portal. An interactive interface and information filtering functions help users easily find what they need and improve the accuracy of search results.
  • Browse by Topics allows users to obtain all statistical yearbooks, entries (tables), and figures (indicators) related to a specific field.
  • With customized datasets, users can create and download customized tables according to selected variables including region, indicators and time period.
  • Data mining is made more accurate with detailed divisions of administrative areas (including 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities, two Special Administrative Regions), finer classification of indicators, and selectable time intervals.
