March 2, 2022 – Like so many in the world, we at East View are shocked and saddened by the tragic events unfolding in Ukraine. With major offices in both Kyiv and Moscow, we have a deep obligation to our staff abroad, as well as to all the suppliers and partners in the region that support our business. Our immediate concern is for the safety of our Kyiv staff and their families and other colleagues in Ukraine, and we continue to monitor the situation closely. As a leading provider of information resources from Ukraine, Russia and Eurasia, we are dedicated to ensuring that information from this region remains accessible. Our very name means that we are dedicated to get the “East” view—as diverse, as complex, even as impenetrable and perhaps offensive as it may be—to the outside world. That mission, and our commitment to it, has never been more important.

Currently most online products from the region are being updated as usual, though some Ukrainian titles are encountering understandable delays. As for print materials, we are in daily, if not hourly, communication with our teams abroad and are actively pursuing alternative methods to minimize disruptions in deliveries and service, including alternate shipping routes, and transitioning publishers from print book supplies to e-books.
