Librarians who may be adding Chinese resources to their collections for the first time will find this webinar of interest. We will summarize CNKI and the universe of Chinese e-resources, highlighting popular uses in North American libraries. We will also discuss the support we provide librarians who do not read Chinese. We also look forward to answering any questions you may have about CNKI, China Research Gateway, and other Chinese e-resources.

New Platforms for Traditional Resources: Population and Geographic Data Online
East View’s Global Census Archive and Global Geography Library are two of East View’s global resources that deliver a wealth of demographic and geographic data traditionally available only via print or microfilm through convenient, user-friendly platforms. We will demonstrate how these platforms enable research into population and geographies across time, explore complementary ways of analyzing the world through statistical information and visualization of geographic data, and identify key research tools in each platform.

For more than 30 years, East View has supplied universities and researchers with specialized resources in vernacular languages, focusing on politics, history, and culture from regions like Russia, Asia, and the Middle East. Previously, only those fluent in these languages could fully utilize these materials. However, advancements in AI-driven translation technologies have transformed this landscape. With the rise of Large Language Models, translations are now more accurate and fluent than ever. Learn about East View’s efforts to incorporate AI translation into our extensive archives, opening them up to a much wider academic community.
