East View is the most comprehensive source of grey literature from the former Soviet Union and from China, offering works that go far beyond those traditionally available.
Through our extensive network throughout the FSU, we can find documents issued by government, academia, business, and industry, in both print and electronic formats, including:
- Low-press run and rare books published by various institutes of the Academies of Sciences, private research groups, business organizations and governmental bodies.
- Works of independent research and advisory bodies.
- Materials from the periphery, including all the former Soviet republics and distant cities within Russia.
- Dissertations and their abstracts ("avtoreferats").
- Formerly classified works.
- Rare and out-of-print materials from Arkhiv Pechati on microform.
- Formerly unpublished manuscripts made available by East View on microform.
Recently, we procured GIS and operating system software from North Korea. We now have Kazakhstan conference material within 30 days of the confence date.
East View also obtains grey literature as part of our Book Approval Plans for libraries, companies, government institutions and other customers.
From China, East View hosts the China National Knowledge Infrastructure: China Proceedings of Conferences Database.
CPCD features conference proceedings from academic institutions, industrial organizations, governmental agencies, and international bodies in China since 1999. As of late 2006, content exceeded 580.000 conference papers. Approximately 100,000 new proceedings are added annually.
Breakdown: 9 Series databases - Science and Engineering (ABC), Agriculture, Medicine/Hygiene, Literature/History/Philosophy, Economics/Politics/Law, Education/Social Science, Electronics/Information Science. Sources include Proceedings from academic meetings and conferences held in China by first and second tier organizations.
