East View Introduces New Collection Exploring Kurdish History

For Immediate Release

Minneapolis, MN, USA. September 15, 2015—East View Information Services is pleased to announce the latest addition to the Cambridge Archive Editions online collection. The Records of the Kurds: Territory, Revolt and Nationalism, 1831-1979, is a document-based history of the Kurdish peoples’ struggle for a recognized homeland, from disparate revolt to the rise of nationalism.

The collection is a new 13-volume set totaling over 9,000 pages of books and maps highlighting the pursuit of a Kurdish homeland and the related struggle for independence, offering the historical context for how the Kurds have found themselves the largest stateless nation in the world. Included are government records on the recent history of the Kurdish people, tracing early insurgencies, as well as inter-relations with neighboring tribes and other ethnic groups, while examining the areas pertaining to the Kurdish homeland.

The set contains original documents, presented in facsimile, that have been gathered from several years of research into diverse British Government file classes, and are arranged into themes according to content and chronology with document level descriptions that are searchable across all volumes. High quality maps with zoom functionality are included and provide illustrations of the changes to Kurdish populated territory, as well as those sections subject to alterations and contestation over the course of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

“Records of the Kurds” is the first addition to Cambridge Archive Editions Online, the first-ever digital presentation of the exceptionally well-known and respected series of British archival reprints. This new collection is now available with the Near & Middle East collection, the Slavic and Balkan collection, and the East and South East Asia collection launched in September of 2014.
