East View Launches the New Interface and Platform for Its Russia/NIS Universal Databases

On May 7th, 2002, East View Information Services, Inc. launched the new interface and platform for its eight Russia/NIS Universal Databases. Based on customer feedback and extensive usability testing, the new edition of Universal Databases represents an advanced, library oriented platform for full text searching and browsing online newspaper and journal collections. Specifically, the new edition includes important enhancements such as:
  • Ability to search simultaneously all databases or any combination of titles.
  • Easy browsing and access to individual titles, issues, table of contents, and articles.
  • Ability to e-mail, download or print articles.
  • Faster search, improved navigation and personalized interface.
  • Advanced and field-specific search.
  • Linking options for library OPACs.
The new permanent address for this database is at http://dlib.eastview.com To assure uninterrupted service during this significant technological upgrade on our servers, East View will maintain mirror servers with the old databases in Moscow at http://news.mosinfo.ru They will be turned off as soon as all of our customers have successfully migrated to the new platform.

This new database reflects the valuable suggestions that we have received during the past year. There are still some customer recommendations for the new interface that are on the "wish list". East View's development team will be working hard to implement them as soon as possible.
