- Universal
Database of Russian Public Health & Medicine is launched, giving
access to research findings and journal articles and sources from the
Russian Union of Pediatrics, Academy of Medical Sciences, Ministry of
Defense, and the Association of Specialists on Prenatal Medicine. With a
wide range of topics: Russia’s public health situation, primary care,
medical training and education, clinical standards and practices,
infectious disease, drug and alcohol abuse, economic impact of declines in
health and life expectancy, vital statistics, and demographic

- Century
Journal Project is launched in December 2005. The project’s aim is to
expand the existing archives of the China Academic Journals (CAJ) database
by retrospectively digitizing the most important journals of 20th century China back to the very first issues,
as far back as 1937.
- Serials
coverage is expanding with an increased geographic scope. Newly added
titles from Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Bangladesh, North and South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam have been added to

of The Current Digest of Post-Soviet Press weekly journal, companion quarterly,
and annual index publications. The journal is a compilation of
translations or article abstracts selected from a wide variety of
Russian-language newspapers and periodicals.
- The
digitization of the 2002 All-Russian Population Census began. A number of
chapters have now been made accessible online. When complete, it may be
purchased as a stand-alone database or in conjunction with the Universal
Database of Russian/NIS Statistical Publications.

- The Access to Russian Archives project, managed
by the University of Kansas Libraries and Rosarkhiv of Russia
with the participation of East View, is a full-text database of regional
and national guides to the Russian archives. It will provide the most
comprehensive access to the holdings of the entire Russian archive system.
Creation of this database will allow students and scholars from anywhere
in the world to identify important archival holdings related to their

- The full run of Voprosy istorii (Issues of
History) published by the Russian Academy of Sciences is digitized in
full text and full image. Chronicling events in Russia and the world since
1926, this legendary journal is available for the first time online.
- Greatman Knowledge Management Group selects East
View to establish and maintain a Web site in the West for Greatman's
Complete Classics Collection of Ancient China and Taiwan Literature Series
databases.
- China National Knowledge Infrastructure expands
to include the China Doctoral/Masters Dissertations database containing
the full-text of more than 50,000 doctoral dissertations and master's
theses from over 200 top Chinese graduate schools and universities and the
China Proceedings of Conferences Database with a collection of national
and international conferences or seminars of various academic associations
and societies.
2003
- Full data on the State Standards of the Russian Federation ("gosudartsvennye
standarty" or GOSTy) available. While all GOSTs are originally in
Russian, many of them have been fully translated into English.
- World News Connection accessible through a
unique website interface by region.
- In cooperation with the State Committee on
Statistics of the Russian Federation and the CIS Statistical
Committee East View develops UDB-STAT, an online database containing
official reports, yearbooks and
related publications of regional statistical bodies and statistical
agencies of the former Soviet Union.
- With the Russian Book Chamber, East View has
digitized the Russian national bibliographies going back to 1998 and made
them searchable in UDB-BIB, an online database.

- Hilsoft Notifications, a world leader in
notification services for class-action lawsuits, has selected East View to
coordinate the Swiss banks' publicity campaign for Holocaust survivors in
the former Soviet Union.
- UDB-GOV—a database containing Russian
parliamentary publications—is launched.
- The Universal Database of Russian Military
Publications, UDB-MIL, is launched. This database contains central as well

- East View takes over publishing and worldwide
distribution of the reputed Russian academic journal Social Sciences.
- Primary Sources Media – Gale Group, contracts
East View to implement a multiyear project on microfilming formerly

- East View reaches critical mass in fostering the

- East View is the first Western company to break
the Soviet state monopoly on distribution of Soviet books and periodicals
out of Russia.
- East View is the first to distribute Russia’s first independent
newspaper, Nezavisimaia Gazeta, in the West.

publish a guide to the Russian Military archive, TsGASA.
- Immediately after the August military coup in Russia, East View

1990
- Permission was received from the Russian
Ministry of Defense to microfilm and distribute the formerly classified
journal, Military Thought ("Voennaia Mysl' ").
1989
- East View was founded. The new company's first project was a
massive microfilming and preservation campaign in Russia, to
film hundreds of newspaper and journal titles.
