This is currently the largest universal and modern Atlas, which presents Russia by physical geography, economic geography, ethnography, history, religious affiliation, culture, and regions. It is also unique in that it shows maps from pre-revolutionary times to the present without deletions or ideological influence.

The aim of the edition is to show Russian history, culture, and economy as a whole in a single work. A number of new types of maps showing history, religious affiliation, were developed especially for the Atlas. The atlas contains more than 250 maps and plans. The geographical map is a detailed display showing locations of monuments, cities and settlements, uniquely describing Russia from historical and cultural point of view.

Tatarstan is located in the center of the East European Plain, approximately 800 km east of Moscow. It lies between the Volga River and the Kama River (a tributary of the Volga), and extends east to the Ural mountains.

Tartarica: atlas: istoriia tatar i narodov Evrazii; Respublika Tatarstan vchera i segodnia contains unique, illustrative modern and ancient maps on the history and geography. Scientific reliability is combined with popular representation of the material. Special attention is given to the history, culture, ethnography, environment and resources, economy and municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan. It also covers the history of the Turkic people, who at various times, lived on the extensive territory of Eurasia.

The atlas presents material devoted to Tatar diasporas in the former Soviet republics and foreign countries. It shows how Islam was accepted by the people of Volga Bulgaria and the Golden Horde. Special attention is given to the 1000-year history of Kazan - the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The section "Tatarstan Today" characterizes the economics, demography, social sphere, and development prospects.
