Russia Beyond Russia Digital Library provides access to Andre Savine's work Open source bibliographic database for the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in development with East View Information Services FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 15, 2006 East View Information Services, a world leader in providing information from Russia online, is proud to provide database development services to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the Russia Beyond Russia Digital Library. The first released core module of The University's Russia Beyond Russia project, completed in the fall of 2007, will provide access to Andre Savine's research on the post-1917 Russian Diaspora. The module includes thousands of Savine's index cards and notebook pages. Kirill Fesenko, East View's Online Publishing Director, said, "The database structure will be optimized to show relationships between people, places, and organizations throughout the core bibliographic module and future full text/image modules." Online Access to information in the Core Module will be available during development on the project Web site: http://online.eastview.com/projects/savine. The multi-modular approach to the development of Russia Beyond Russia Digital Library takes into consideration plans for future digitization projects of materials in the Andre Savine Collection and beyond. This includes the addition of digitized printed books, journals and periodicals; hand-written and type-written newspapers, journals, books and other manuscripts; photographs, postcards, sound recordings, and currency. The Russia Beyond Russia Digital Library project is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
